Visit To The St. Louis Federal Reserve Bank
[This email went out to subscribers over the weekend]
Hey fellow pistol shooter…
(and taxpayer!)
A group of business associates and I went to the Federal Reserve Bank in St. Louis the other day…
As I suspected, we were greeted at the door by TSA-like security…
More-so than most TSA officers, this gentleman was a likable fellow with a sense of humor: he told us to leave our bazookas outside and to follow him in…
Yet, that wasn’t the end to the security checkpoint.
Nope.
While we could leave our shoes on, we were told to empty our pockets of all metal items, walk through the metal detector and, when the alarm goes off anyway (as it did for me), get wanded to make sure you are safe.
These guys were all armed with Glocks and wore body armor. A little later we saw a roving security patrol with K-9 support.
I’m curious: what are they protecting from/for? Is a Federal Reserve Bank where they specialize in economic research & data, print NO CURRENCY, shred NO CURRENCY, really at THAT big of risk? Sure, any government building can be a target, especially when that government seems to go out of its way to make enemies…
But seriously? What does that cost us every year?
Thankfully I had left not only my XD-S but also the pocket knife my daughter gave me and the Swiss Army knife money clip my late mother gave me back at the hotel. God only knows what would have happened should I sneak through security with either of those knives! Probably have to lockdown all the area schools…
However, not wanting to be TOTALLY defenseless, I did have my cheapo – yet indispensable – HyBeam flashlight (with pseudo “attack” bezel) and plastic credit card knife with me. Between those two items and an ink pen at least I have SOMETHING with me in downtown St. Louis, (bad enough), and 30 miles from Ferguson, MO!
BTW, the museum in that building is NOTHING like the one Mike Maloney examines on his Hidden Secrets Of Money series – I wish it was.
In fact, the main attraction was a buy/sell game pit for a group of participants that had recently been “upgraded” and … wouldn’t work – despite the efforts of a very friendly IT specialist with a nifty tablet control pad.
Leaving the building I just had to shake my head; what else do you do? It’s not worth getting angry over, might spoil lunch…
On a positive note, I wanted to help you SAVE SOME MONEY with your next purchases of gear/ammo…
The other deal will be sent out in an email to VIP Club members, who last time saved cumulatively hundreds on ammo…

That’s it for today…
Enjoy the nap you may very well be taking this afternoon to help recover from the “Spring Forward” adjustment last night.
Here’s hoping for my nap today, as I am hit with a double whammy of getting in late from the drive back…
