Rusty Guns and EMP Threat!
Hey fellow shooter…
It’s that time of year –
The time when the silent destroyer of guns rears its ugly head:
No, not gun grabbers – they are anything BUT silent!
No, I’m speaking of RUST and I just had a battle with that last week myself…
I’ve read that you should not store guns in those nice foam lined cases because it traps moisture and this rifle was in one of those.
CHECK YOUR GUNS! Apply protective coatings
Check your dehumidifiers to make sure they are still working
Check, re-charge or replace your desiccant absorbents
Finding rust in a favorite firearm is heart breaking and could even cost you your life!
And Now Something REALLY SCARY!
I’m hearing more and more about the potential for Kim Jong-moron of North Korea to launch an EMP attack which, if successful, could plunge us into the 1800’s again…
I know, it sounds remote, and hopefully it is –
Yet, people I know who KNOW claim that it would not really be all that hard to do,
The US Congress refuses all advice to harden our electrical grid,
And the missile delivery system needed to launch an EMP attack does not have to be very accurate (that part is right up North Korea’s alley!)
REMEMBER: If successful, Kim Jong-idiot would instantly become the most feared man in the world, something his inflated ego would dearly relish
Maybe More Troubling Though:
Is how close we could be to – if not civil war – at least a lot of civil disturbances becoming less than civil!
Most of us who prepared for Y2K have disposed of (one way or another) most – if not all – of our stored food, shot up our ammo, sold the generator and really have no good idea on how to store plenty of safe drinking water…
So I was doing a little research and I came across this “Bulletproof Home” training course, which turns out to be somewhat controversial since the author attacks most of the traditional home defense tactics that many of us use —
maybe the ones YOU use…
The case studies used stem from what has been learned in uprisings in the Egypt Arab Spring and more recently in the chaos overtaking Argentina.
It even addresses the really disturbing trends of attacking Senior Citizens recently here in the USA!
All I can say is that it has me re-assessing the home defense tactics my family and I have employed to try to protect ourselves, especially now that we live in a much more urban area than before…
Take a look at it by CLICKING HERE and then see what you think?
My advice is never stop learning, and on a lighter note: take advantage of Summer while it’s here!
Talk soon…

P.S. – The days are already getting shorter, don’t forget to carry a flashlight when you go out at night. Here’s my favorite torch, works in the city or the darkest nights out on the farm
Brian Nainby says
Weekly maintenance routine. Silicone and properly maintained firearms most often go pew pew pew. As for leaving the house, pistol(s), flashlight (LCD), knife(s), and 5 loaded magazines. Typically have a flashlight and rifle in the trunks of cars as well. Only ever seen rust on friends firearms, and when they were properly trained, never had another issue.

From my experience it’s often the ones that don’t come out of the safe very often; sadly, that sometimes means the most valuable ones in the safe are the ones that start to rust.
Another problem I have is: “yeah, I cleaned that just a few weeks ago… when really it was 6 MONTHS ago and I just fail to realize how fast time flies”
