Don’t Buy A Gun SAFE, Buy A Gun VAULT!
If you have perused the aisles at your local big box store or even gun shop looking for the best gun safe you can get, perhaps you have noticed that not a single one will typically tell you how thick the steel is that is standing between danger and your valuables.
There is good reason for that.
If you look up the model number on your smartphone while standing there, chances are that you will discover via the manufacturers website that the steel is only 12 gauge; ie, 7/64 inch thick. That’s less than 1/8 of an inch!
All a thief needs is a grinder from Harbor Freight and he can be in your safe in no time (see these videos on youtube)
And we haven’t even talked about FIRE PROTECTION yet!
Difference Between a Gun SAFE and a Gun VAULT
The Silver Eagle series from VaultProUSA is the minimum specification I personally recommend when trying to find the best gun safe to store your firearms and other valuables to protect them from thieves and even a house fire.
The Silver Eagle series is 10 gauge steel or 9/64 inch thick. That’s over 28% thicker steel than the boxes you see at the stores with the pretty paint on them.
It turns out that 12 gauge is the minimum thickness to even be considered a safe, and that’s why manufacturers most often use it. 10 gauge goes one better yet with VaultProUSA that’s not where it ends.
For most gun safes out there, the outer shell is the only steel the burglar has to cut through. Inside you often find standard sheet rock as a thermal barrier. This STANDARD (C rated) sheet rock gives off moisture (even formaldehyde) when it gets hot and that can ruin your guns and documents.
The “VAULT” Difference
VaultProUSA uses X rated sheet rock which does NOT have these negative consequences to your valuables when it gets hot.
They also use only USA made steel which is usually of a higher quality (and stronger) than less expensive foreign steel used in many of the mass produced safes in the stores.
We’re not done yet, though. You can also specify (and yes it costs a LOT MORE) an inner steel liner that can be made of steel, STAINLESS steel (helps thwart torch cutting and grinding) or AR500 steel to make it REALLY hard to grind. Add more than 1 layer if you want!
And all the welds cover 100% of the seems, not just spots here and there.
Still not done!
Check out the gap between the door and the frame of those “Big Box” safes… Can you stick a pry bar in there? Yep, bet you can. Check out these videos on prying a safe open
The gap on VaultProUSA doors is just 1/16th of an inch! Yeah, try to stick a pry bar in that!
Getting More Protection Yet
Above I said that the Silver Eagle series 10 gauge was the minimum I recommended (note, though, you can have inner liner(s) of more 10 gauge or even thicker layers).
If you want something even THICKER, then you can check out the Golden Eagle Series (7 gauge, 3/16 steel) or American Eagle Series (1/4″ steel!). Then add liners!
Not only does thicker steel and liners give you more burglary protection but also additional fire protection. That $1300 Browning safe that looks so awesome in the store offers only 1200 degrees protection for just 30 minutes. In a full blown house fire that ain’t gonna cut it.
With VaultProUSA the rating is 2 HOURS at 1880 degrees. It may actually be more than that depending on how your made-to-order safe is actually configured.

I actually don’t have time today to continue to tell you about all the differences that make VaultProUSA stand out above the competition (additional design features to protect against theft & fire that no one else offers).
The owner Tony covers a few of these features in this short video on the top-of-the-line (but many features apply to ALL of their gun vaults) American Eagle Series:
What I do want to be sure to let you know is that they have a special on the Silver Eagle Series until April 15th that will save you almost $700 and get you the electrical package for free.
When you want the best gun safe you can get, it IS going to cost some REAL money. The key is that you are getting the protection you really desire for your guns and valuables that will help you sleep better at night, especially when away from home.
So check out the “vaults” at VaultProUSA and then if you are ready to dig dip in your pockets and INVEST in protection of this level give Denise a call (800-299-6929 OR 562-926-4999 Pacific Time) and tell her Roger sent you. You’ll find the service they offer is every bit as friendly as is the protection their products provide.
