Affordable Noise Canceling Hearing Protection For Shooting
Quality hearing protection is a must for anyone shooting firearms (eye protection too!). Hearing damage from gunshot noise is both cumulative, permanent but also PREVENTABLE! This OPSMEN M31 Review is meant to introduce you to a product that will protect your ears and your wallet!
I was contacted by Tom from OPSMEN and asked if we would be willing to review this new product if he would send us a set; naturally I said yes! (EARMOR is the marking on the earmuffs themselves, not sure which branding is a subset of the other)
We always love reviewing new gear especially when it’s AFFORDABLE for the average pistol shooter. Time after time I read reviews in gun magazines and the ‘accessory’ is only 200, 300 or $400! Yeah, we all have that kind of spare change laying around for something we’ve been doing without.
I don’t. If you do, awesome! I’m happy for you. But most of us don’t.
So the chance to get a decent set of noise canceling earmuffs rated for gunshots for just $39? I’m all over that! (Check here on Amazon)
Why Electronic Hearing Protection?
I’ve mentioned before that I did NOT have a great experience getting my Texas CHL (Concealed Handgun License – now renamed LTC for License To Carry since Open Carry was approved – yay!).
The hard-arse military type instructor has a somewhat deep, low voice, stands with his back to part of the class at the range (the part I was in) then mumbles commands to shooters with hearing protection on and then gets p.o.’d when we don’t follow his commands to a ‘T’.
Well, electronic noise canceling hearing protection will allow you to hear voice commands at the range clearly while blocking out the piercing crack of supersonic bullets leaving the barrel and the bang of the powder explosion.
Do you still hear the shot? Absolutely, but it sounds more like you are a spectator standing at a safe distance than being right there behind (or next to) the weapon being fired.
Tunes Anyone?
As a bonus, if you need to hear your music or are afraid of missing that important call (yeah, I’m a dinosaur who still uses a phone for something besides TEXTING!) then the OPSMEN M31 3.5mm cable can be attached to the earmuffs (screws in) and plug it into your phone – provided you don’t have a new iPhone without the connector…
This could be handy, not sure any competitors have that. Don’t need it, then just leave it in the box.
This unit requires 2 AAA batteries that are not included but are supposed to last about 350 hours. It does automatically shutoff if you forget and leave it on.

Prices do fluctuate on Amazon, they were $39 just yesterday
These are also well reviewed at just under $41 (today) http://amzn.to/2icRpqG
Jim says
$49.00 today

Wow, Mark commented earlier they were $45…
Amazon does fluctuate but usually I’ve only seen these kinds of price swings around Christmas season
Must be a lot of folks buying, if you notice it’s a different seller now and that’s why the price is higher. It’s still $45 for the other color
