Most Affordable BulletProof Vest
I thought a BulletSafe BulletProof Vest Review might go a long way toward dispelling some of the misinformation about SHTF protection and the options that we all have to protect ourselves and loved ones in troubled times.
And has anyone seen more trouble times in the last few decades than what we have been seeing this Summer?
Many of you probably have at least LOOKED at if not bought yourself a plate carrier with some bulletproof AR500 plates for protection in case the stuff does hit the fan. Personally I have only looked, and not bought. And here are the reasons why I’m looking at a bulletproof vest and not a plate carrier:
- I am NOT suspecting a Red Dawn scenario that will require me to wear full battle gear.
- I AM suspecting that we may very well see times soon where going to the store to get groceries or other necessities could easily find a person in risk of life and limb due to riot-like crowds.
- For the same reason many do not wish to open carry, I wish to be able to keep my bulletproof vest known only to me and not stand out like a red painted target!
- A bulletproof vest is a lot lighter and more comfortable to wear than a plate carrier. Since it is easier to wear it stands to reason that one might be more inclined to wear it!
- A product like the BulletSafe bulletproof vest pictured above gives much more protection – against handgun rounds – than does a plate carrier. If more protection of the vital areas is required, I can add the same protective plates to this vest as one could to a plate carrier.
Why A BulletSafe BulletProof Vest?
I found BulletSafe sometime around late 2014, I think, while looking for body armor. The attraction was obviously the affordability. My concern was whether or not it was a quality product, since the company was unknown to me. Since then, I have been watching the company and doing more research.
Tom and his crew at BulletSafe have done a pretty good job with their “How Bulletproof” video series of showing that their product does the job. And by evaluating their “Henry Ford Model-T” limited lineup of products it makes sense that he could save costs by producing more of fewer different models of products.
Want a vest other than Black? Sorry, no can do. Again, just like Henry Ford – any color you want as long as it’s black.
Remember, these bulletproof vests are for PROTECTION, not a fashion statement. Often, these vests go under other uniform clothing anyway so color is irrelevant.
In my case, my hope is that if I do ever feel the need to wear the vest, it will indeed be out of sight and render frills like color meaningless. Personally I would rather save the money!
At only $299, the BulletSafe BulletProof Vest is unmatched in quality and price.

Innovation
All that is not to say that BulletSafe is not innovative, they are. Other products offered include (I think the only) bulletproof baseball style cap, a versatile backpack panel – with washable sleeve that can do multi-duty in child’s school backpack, camping backpack, range bag, etc.
BulletSafe only makes products that are bulletproof, they leave sewing & stitching to other companies. Their panel inserts are standard size so as to work in other companies carriers the same as they will work in their own vests.
When it comes to bulletproof panels, they offer 2 types:
- Ceramic plates – these are lighter than steel, cost more than steel, but require you “get out of harms way” after the ceramic has been hit as it will not sustain multiple hits.
- Polycarbonate plates – these are ultra light-weight, cost more than ceramic, but will sustain multiple hits similar to steel. (Watch the interview for more information on the differences in bulletproof plates)
